"Exemplary" is the word used to describe the Woodstock Hospital's programs and services. The hospital was rated the highest standard possible after it went through accreditation at the start of the month. Vice President of Patient Care Jayne Menard says it's a voluntary process that hospitals use to look at how they're doing. "An outside team of healthcare professionals come and it usually consists of someone in a leadership position, clinical experts; usually a couple of physicians or a physician is involved. They come and they look at the processes making sure that the hosptial they are looking at is providing safe quality care". Patient safety, emergency preparedness, and quality of work were a few of the highlights acknowledged by Accreditors Of the over 1700 standards evaluated, 97.4 percent were in compliance. Because they've achieved the highest level of recognition, they won't undergo accreditation for four years.
