Woodstock Police arrested the 38 year-old man yesterday after learning he had suspicious materials inside of his home, which are commonly used to make a homemade pipe bomb.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police have released more details after they blocked off the area of Winniett Street.
They say a 38 year-old man from Woodstock is facing charges after they learned he had suspicious materials that are commonly used to make a homemade pipe bomb.
After they received a complaint yesterday afternoon at 2:30, they learned the man had explosives inside of his home, located on Winniett Street.
Police evacuated several residences in the area and arrested the man later in the evening when he was found on Dover Street.
The area between Hunter and Buller Street was blocked while they investigated.
They then investigated the home, which led them to searching in another home in Woodstock, along with a car in Ingersoll.
The man has been charged with the following offences:
- 2 counts of possession of an explosive device
- 1 count of possession of an explosive substance
- 1 count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- 1 count of possession of a prohibited weapon
The man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing today.
Residents have returned to their homes on Winniett Street and the road has been reopened.
