It was a busy month for the Woodstock Police on the roads.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police have been busy catching impaired drivers.
Seven people were caught under the influence while on the road between November 30th and yesterday. Below is the list of all who were caught.
- November 30, 2024: A 47-year-old man from Ingersoll was arrested on Simcoe Street after being involved in a motor vehicle collision. Upon arrest, he was transported to Woodstock General Hospital (WGH) for medical assessment, where blood was taken to determine his blood alcohol concentration (BAC).
- December 7, 2024: A 38-year-old male from Woodstock struck a parked vehicle on George Street. Following the collision, he was arrested for impaired and suspended driving. Breath samples indicated his BAC was nearly three times the legal limit.
- December 13, 2024: A 40-year-old Woodstock resident went off the road and struck a fence on Bexley Street. Police arrested the driver for impaired driving, and his BAC was found to be over twice the legal limit.
- December 20, 2024: A 43-year-old Woodstock man was observed driving on the wrong side of the road. When located, police found him sleeping behind the wheel. After a strong odour of alcohol was detected, the driver was arrested for impaired driving. Breath samples indicated his BAC was more than twice the legal limit.
- December 21, 2024: A 32-year-old male from London was arrested for impaired and dangerous driving after being observed speeding and driving erratically on Dundas Street. Despite his arrest, the driver refused to provide breath samples.
- December 24, 2024: A 77-year-old Woodstock male struck a parked vehicle on Drew Street. After police detected signs of impairment, he was arrested and provided breath samples indicating his BAC was over the legal limit.
- December 26, 2024: A 35-year-old man from Kitchener was arrested for impaired driving and possession of stolen property after driving a stolen vehicle on Dundas Street. He provided breath samples that were over the legal limit.
The Woodstock Police Service would like to remind all drivers that impaired driving, whether by alcohol or drugs, is a serious offence with severe consequences. The risks of impaired driving affect the safety of everyone.
