The Woodstock Police Auxiliary Unit will be collecting food and toy donations on Saturday.
WOODSTOCK - Members of the Woodstock Police Service's Auxiliary Unit are getting ready for their 9th annual Fill a Cruiser event.
Eleven officers will stuff their vehicles with food donations on Saturday.
Auxiliary Staff Sargeant Deb Klemp says they will be outside of the Woodstock Sobey's between 9am and 1pm.
"They have done some premade bags that you can purchase or you can purchase other groceries or you can bring stuff from home. Our goal is to fill a bunch of cruisers; we take all that food to the Salvation Army and help fill their hampers for Christmas baskets."
They have managed to fill seven cruisers last year, and are hoping to beat that record this time around. Monetary donations will also be accepted in order to help the Salvation Army purchase turkeys for the hampers.
Klemp says they're also expecting some special guests to stop by.
"We have Mr. and Mrs. Claus coming at 11am, Batman is going to show up and make an appearance and we have the Salvation Army Band that comes and plays for a little bit too at 11am. There's a lot going on; some candy canes, cookies and hot chocolate for the kids so we hope everybody can come and support this worthwhile cause."
