The City of Woodstock has received an OLG cheque worth $328 727 for the fourth quarter.
WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock is getting another cheque from the Ontario Lottery Gaming Corporation for hosting OLG slots at the Woodstock Raceway.
To date Woodstock has received $14.8 million in non tax gaming revenue from the corporation. This cheque is for the fourth quarter from January to March and is worth $328 727.
Mayor Trevor Birtch says the partnership with OLG has been beneficial to the City and to the Agricultural Society as the OLG also pays rent to the Ag society. The rent helps them pay for all of the events they have there during the year.
In a press release sent to Heart FM Minister of Finance Charles Sousa says “Revenues from OLG gaming sites allow host municipalities to invest in and upgrade their infrastructure and support various community organizations and initiatives."
He adds the people of Ontario benefit from these gaming revenues through provincial investment in key public services like health care and education.
The quarterly payments are made under an equitable formula in the Municipality Contribution Agreement.
